CARDS

THE BEST TWO YEARS

It's hard to believe but Dave and I are coming up on our 2nd anniversary (April 12th)! These past two years have been full of love, happiness and memories. As an early anniversary celebration (while the kids were on spring break) I surprised Dave with a romantic getaway to a bed & breakfast in Murfreesboro, which is about 30 miles southeast of Nashville. They have a beautiful greenway that follows the Stones River for about 8 miles. Recently Dave added a candy-apple red tandem bike to our bicycle collection. We took it with us and enjoyed a ride along the river. Just about everyone that we passed smiled at us as if to say, "Oh, that looks so fun!" And it was!! We also went out to eat in an old grocery store that was turned into a restaurant...complete with live music!

OUR FAMILY GARDEN 2009

Here are a few pictures of our garden last year. It was fun, but it was a LOT of work! Dave even put in a few raised beds. We grew sweet corn, indian corn, tomatoes, cucumbers (pickling and eating), yellow squash, watermelon, cantelope, basil, kale, cilantro, onions, okra, black beans, white beans, peanuts, red potatoes, white potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, butternut squash, and LOTS of pumpkins. We canned tomatoes, butternut squash, pickled okra, bread and butter pickles, sweet pickles and cinnamon pickles. Our sweet potato crop did exceptionally well, as is demonstrated by Tyler below. I used ONE of these sweet potatoes to make sweet potato casserole for Thanksgiving dinner. We had 15 people for dinner and this ONE potato fed all of them.

This entire thing is nothing but PUMPKINS!
